Nas Changes Controversial Title Of New Album To “NAS”

Nas has changed the name of his up-coming album “Nigger” to simply “Nas”. A representative from Def Jam told them that Nas made a last minute decision to change the title of the album. Controversy has followed the Queensbridge MC since he announced the name of the album last Fall. And while rumors swirled that his label was disappointed in Nas’s controversial album title, L.A. Reid said in October that the label stood behind Nas’s decision.

“We stand firmly behind and beside our artists with pride and with pleasure,” Reid announced back in October. “Anything Nas wants to do, I completely stand beside him.” Nas said last week in a recent interview and said that he had been feeling the pressure to change the title. “Everybody is trying to stop the title…. Record stores are gonna have a problem in this day and time selling a record with that title. Who knows what’s gonna turn out and be on that title? Who knows what that title will be?” The new titled album “Nas” is due in stores July 1st thorugh Def Jam Recordings.
