New Details Emerge On Q-Tip’s New Album “The Renaissance”

Previously expected to be titled “Live At The Renaissance”, The Renaissance is the latest effort from critically acclaimed rapper Q-Tip aka Kamaal The Abstract, front man of A Tribe Called Quest. Following some label politics he was to finally release this LP on Universal / Motown Records on December 18, 2007, but it has been postponed again. The new release date expected to be sometime in June 2008. The first track off the album is called “Work It Out”, which can be heard in full at Q-Tip’s myspace page.

Q-Tip has just revealed that he has collaborated with presidential candidate Barack Obama on the new album and will also feature an appearances from director Spike Lee.“I’ve got Norah Jones on there, but Barack is the big one,” said Q-Tip. “You’ll see what happens, I can’t reveal too much”. Q-Tip has also been working on collaborative album with Chicago rapper Common titled “The Standard” dropping sometime this year, more updates on both projects coming soon.
