"Underground Hip-Hop Blog" Exclusive Q&A Interview Session w/ Fred Knuxx caught up with the self proclaimed “Face Of DE”, Delaware’s own Fred Knuxx this week for an exclusive Q&A session. Fred Knuxx has just released the second single “Get Lost” from his highly anticipated album “Delafornia” which is slated to hit stores in March, featuring artists from all over California. He sits down with Rap Talk to talk about his new single and album, his thoughts on the commercialisation of Hip Hop right now and his plans for the future. Make sure you check out his brand new single “Get Lost” produced by Heater at the end of the interview.

Dub MD: Fred Knuxx, What’s good?
Fred Knuxx: Just grinding fam, putting in work with my single Get Lost and promoting Delafornia.

Dub MD: For those who don’t know, could you just give a short review of what you’ve experienced in your rap career up until now?
Fred Knuxx: Well I was in December 2007 issue of Vibe Magazine as top 51 unsigned artists in the country. I got a project called Delafornia coming out with features from Glasses Malone, Crooked I, Spider Loc, Akil from Jurassic 5, Problem, Bangloose, Gangsta Dresta and many more. I got so many other projects I’m working on right now. Jazzy D my manager nicknamed “Mr. Grinder Of The Year.”

Dub MD: Coming from Delaware, what do you think of the Delaware music scene right now?
Fred Knuxx: I think right now its at its best, far as talent is concerned. We have a lot of good artists from back pack to mainstream. Artists like AO (my partner in rhyme), Dom 1, Hollywood Huff and Illstrip are all making noise out here. We just need a bigger spotlight on the state and that’s where I come in. Hopefully my grind and success will open up doors for artists out here.

Dub MD: What do you think of the commercialisation of Hip Hop right now, do you think its showing respect to its pioneers?
Fred Knuxx: Its not really showing respect for the pioneers becuase the pioneers were in it for the art and now the new breed is in it for the money. That’s how the business changed the mindframe of artists now. Rappers get into the game to make money and leave not to become longevity artist. Everything is so fast now where an artist put out an album and his first week sales aren’t that good then they chalk it up as a lost. The era where the pioneers where doing their thing they used to tour off one album for 2 years. Its seems like the only place where our pioneers can get love is VH1, whether its the hip hop honors or reality shows.

Dub MD: You’ve got a new album about to drop called “Delafornia”, what can heads out there expect from it?
Fred Knuxx: First and foremost Great Music! Expect Unity. This project is more like a compilation album cuz everysong has a feature. Alot of people didn’t think the east and west could get a long but this project bridges the gap. You have everything for the consumer from Social topics, Club Bangers, Ryder music, Original west coast laid back music to old school hip hop tracks, Lyrical tracks and some Gangsta music. Its a melting pot blended into 1 album.

Shout out to everyone that showed love and participated on there from Crooked I, Glasses Malone, Eastwood, Bad Lucc, Spider Loc, Coniyac (Doggies Angels), Kanary Diamonds, Akil, Mykestro, Problem, Bangloose, K Aktive, Killa Krock, Noni Spitz, El Prez, Clinton Wayne, Shu, Network and Young Shame. Damn that’s a lot of artist (Laughs)

Dub MD: With this project, what producers are you connecting with this time around?
Fred Knuxx: Well I got my main producer named X Plosive, that’s my tag team partner right there! Also I’m working with a couple other producers like Heater who produced Get Lost, Baller Beats, Problum Child, Mellodic and I got a track with THX from Los Angeles.

Dub MD: You’ve got a brand new single burning up the streets and online right now called “Get Lost”, Can you tell us a little about that track?
Fred Knuxx: It’s a track for all the haters out there. When your on the grind and doing ya thing you will eventually aquire a lot of haters on the way. So we tell them to Get Lost. Its more of a mainstream song for the clubs and radios. I’m trying to get my BDS game up with this track. So far its getting a lot of positive feedback and a lot of Djs are supporting it. I’m making it easy for labels to wanna sign me now, but they have to come correct.

Dub MD: What’s your label situation like just now?
Fred Knuxx: Right now we are in a few talks with labels. I let my managemt (Jazzy Management) handle the talks while I continue to grind and make dope music. We had offers but they weren’t coming correct. I need something to match my grind. I’m trying to be an artist with longevity in the game and I plan on being an asset to any label that I sign with so the deal has to be a good fit for all parties. Since the the Vibe feature, Hip Hop Weekly magazine feature and all this recent press the phones have been ringing a lot more. 2008 will be the year I sign to a major. Mark my words!

Dub MD: What do you think is your most defining and unique characteristic that sets you apart from every other emcee out there?
Fred Knuxx: My focus. I don’t smoke or drink or get caught up in the hoopla that most artist get caught up in. I’m 150% focused on my career and I constantly come up with ways to think outside the box and be different.

Dub MD: If you could describe yourself as an emcee in 4 words, What would they be?
Fred Knuxx: Honest, Lyrical, Confident & Dedicated (To The Art)

Dub MD: For your fans who haven’t seen you perform yet, are you planning on going on tour anytime soon?
Fred Knuxx: I’m doing a lot of shows locally in Delaware right now. Once the album drops I plan on doing a promo tour down south and on the west coast. I recently been asked to do a show in Blegium in September. You can always check for tour updates on my myspace page or my website

Dub MD: What is on tap for Fred Knuxx for the rest of 2008 and beyond?
Fred Knuxx: To continue to make Impact in and beyond hip hop!

Dub MD: Do you have anything to say to the fans? anything you wanna get off your chest? any shout outs?
